Introduces the concept of chemical change, types of reactions, and how to write and balance chemical equations. This chapter is foundational every Chemistry chapter that follows builds on it.

Chapter 2 Acids, Bases and Salts
Covers the properties of acids and bases, pH scale, neutralisation, and the formation of salts. Highly practical and frequently tested in board exams.

Chapter 3 Metals and Non-metals
Explains the physical and chemical properties of metals and non-metals, reactivity series, and extraction of metals. Diagrams and reactions are important here.

Chapter 4 Carbon and its Compounds
One of the most concept-heavy chapters covers organic chemistry basics, homologous series, functional groups, and important carbon compounds. Understanding is essential; memorisation alone will not work.

Biology Chapters

Chapter 5 Life Processes
Covers nutrition, respiration, transportation, and excretion in living organisms. Diagrams of the human digestive system, heart, and kidney are frequently asked.

Chapter 8 Heredity
Introduces Mendel's laws, inheritance patterns, and basic genetics. Punnett squares and trait inheritance questions appear regularly in board exams.

Physics Chapters

Chapter 9 Light: Reflection and Refraction
Covers laws of reflection, mirror formula, refraction, lens formula, and the human eye. Numericals are important here practise ray diagrams carefully.

Chapter 10 The Human Eye and the Colourful World
Explains defects of vision, their correction, and phenomena like dispersion and scattering of light. Conceptual understanding is key.

Chapter 11 Electricity
One of the most numerical-heavy chapters Ohm's Law, resistance, circuits, and power. Regular practice with circuit problems is essential.

Chapter 12 Magnetic Effects of Electric Current
Covers magnetic fields, electromagnetic induction, and electric motors and generators. Diagrams and direction rules (Fleming's rules) are frequently tested.

Chapter 13 Our Environment
Covers ecosystems, food chains, and environmental issues. Relatively straightforward good for scoring full marks with careful reading.
