Scoring well in Class 10 Science is not about memorising pages of text it is about understanding how things work. Students who understand the concepts can answer any question, even ones they have never seen before. At Quanta Classes, this is the foundation of every session. Here is the approach that works.
1. Start with NCERT Always
The entire CBSE and RBSE board paper is based on NCERT. Before picking up any reference book, read every chapter of your NCERT textbook carefully definitions, diagrams, in-text questions, and examples. All Class 10 NCERT chapters are available free on the Quanta Classes resources page.
If it is in NCERT, it can appear in the board exam. If it is not in NCERT, it almost certainly will not.
2. Treat Chemistry, Physics and Biology Separately
Class 10 Science is three subjects in one. Each requires a different approach:
- Chemistry Learn chemical equations, understand reactions, and practise balancing. Do not just memorise understand why a reaction happens.
- Physics Focus on understanding formulas and their derivations. Solve as many numericals as possible. One formula understood is worth ten memorised.
- Biology Draw diagrams repeatedly. Write out processes step by step. Labelled diagrams carry marks and are easy to score if practised.
3. Solve Previous Year Questions
Solving PYQs is the single most effective preparation strategy. It shows you exactly how questions are framed, which topics carry more marks, and where you are losing marks. Class 10 Science PYQs are available free at Quanta Classes. Aim to solve at least the last five years of board papers before your exam.
4. Never Skip Diagrams
In Biology especially, diagrams carry dedicated marks. A neat, well-labelled diagram can earn you full marks even if your written answer is brief. Practice drawing each important diagram at least five to six times. The Quanta Classes notes include all key diagrams with labels.
5. Use Practice Tests
Testing yourself under timed conditions is the best way to identify weak areas before the actual exam. Quanta Classes practice tests are available chapter-wise for Chemistry, Physics, and Biology along with major tests and preboard papers for full-syllabus practice.
6. Build a Revision Schedule
One month before the exam, stop studying new material and shift entirely to revision. Go through each chapter once, note down key points, and keep your notes short. In the final week, only read your notes. The free and premium notes at Quanta Classes are designed specifically for this kind of rapid revision.
7. Ask Every Doubt
At Quanta Classes, no doubt is too small. Students are actively encouraged to ask questions in every session. If you are studying independently, write down your doubts and bring them to class or reach out through the Contact page.
